Bleaching T-shirts with Vinyl Decor Elements

Recognize the fun shapes on this little girls shirts? Yes, they are from our SU! decor element vinyl sheets! Would you like to learn how to make these? Oh...and guess what?! See the owl? I used that one twice!!! Yes, I saved it by sticking it back to the paper it came on. And the best part...these decor elements are only $4.95 each!

Below is the shirt I made for my son. This decor element is $11.95 but I got it FREE for spending $50 in the gift giving brochure! All you need is a t-shirt, decor element, and bleach! Sound easy? Follow these steps...
1. Think about what you want on your shirt. I choose the surfer decor element for my 11 year old son and he wanted me to place it on the back of the shirt. See photo: The white piece is what the decor element looks like when it arrives. The black shirt is what it looks like after I applied it. See directions for applying. 2. Add 1/2 bleach and 1/2 water into a spray bottle. (When completed with project discard bleach.)3. Put cardboard or something in between your shirt before bleaching. Also decide if you want bleach on the arms or hide them behind the back.

4.I took my shirt outside to spray it with bleach. Spray generously to get this look. Let it sit for a few minutes until your get the look you want.

5. Blot off excess bleach that is "sitting" on decor element before peeling off. See in photo where I started pulling the vinyl off the shirt?

6. Rinse the shirt with water.

Pretty cool don't you think? Leave a comment! Do you have an idea that would look cute? How about trying it on a bag, bib, jeans, etc....

Shirt above was done with a Stampin up stencil.
You don't get the intricate clean cut design but it's still fun!
