While visiting San Antonio for the Stampin' up! Leadership event we had to stop by Big Lou's pizza. Big Lou's has been featured on the travel channel and man vs food. Yes, the pizza is delicious! Our pizza was 42 inches and It weighed about 20lbs. One slice was so big u had to role it up to fit on your plate.

If u are anywhere near San Antonio you must try it! What are your thoughts?

On Sunday morning in Dallas, Texas, my Grandma, Mom, and myself attended So you think you can dance auditions. Attended...I didn't say tried out...lol! It was fun to witness all that talent.

This guy dressed like a Mime did such a great job. He had a really unique performance he called gospel miming. I hope u get to see him on tv this upcoming season.

Cracker Jack Crunch Recipe

Growing up I remember my Mom making Cracker Jack Crunch for the Holidays. The kids and I decided to make it this year. We made a big batch to give out to friends and family.

Would you like the recipe? Can you read the ingredients from my recipe book above?

1. Pop 6 quarts of popcorn and be sure you pick out all the unpopped kernels. (I learned this the hard way years ago.)

2. Mix popcorn, a jar of unsalted peanuts, a box of captain crunch and rice chex cereal together in a large bowl.

3. Melt one cup margarine (I used butter) and then add 2 cups firm brown sugar, 1 cup of corn syrup, 1 tsp salt and 1/2 teaspoon baking soda. Stir constantly and bring to a boil for 5 minutes in a non stick pan. Remove from heat and add 1/2 tsp vanilla.

4. Stir liquid mixture into cereal mix.
5. Bake in oven on 250 degrees for 1 hour tossing ever 15 minutes.

We had a wonderful Christmas this year. Some of the highlights include Paisley playing Christmas songs on her keyboard,

opening gifts from each other,

getting gifts that you asked for,

watching loved ones receive gifts they asked for,

and being with family!

Old Fashioned Christmas

My Grandmother wanted my kids to experience an Old Fashioned Christmas.

She had them string popcorn, make ornaments....

and make sugar cookies from scratch.

After all of that she showed the kids how stockings looked when she was a little girl.

To their surprise a generous gift was inside each of them!

This is the first Christmas without my Grandfather. He passed away a few weeks ago. I love that Grandma wanted to make this day special for the kids.

Hayes (my son) looked in the backyard where GG loves to spend her time. He realized that PaPaw is not here anymore and took initiative to find a rake and start raking up the backyard. He told his sister he needed to make this his job since Papaw wasn't around anymore. Paisley joined in with skirt and all. It was COLD and wet but they worked hard for an hour. I will say it's an overwhelming yard and they barely put a dent in it but it was the thought that counted here. It was heartfelt that a 13 year old boy would stop playing a video game for something like this. (no offense to 13 year old boys!)

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all! Doing for others is a gift. I love learning from children.

I Love Christmas Mail!

There is something special about receiving Christmas cards in the mail. In my household we LOVE checking the mailbox during the holidays!

This is where I display my cards each year.

I wanted to point out some of the handmade cards that we were sent so far. This snowman card was created by Jenny Marta. This photo does not capture the sparkles. Jenny went into a lot of detail when creating it. She worked on her card all year long so it wouldn't be overwhelming to get them done during the busy season.

Patrice Taylor created the card above. I don't have the stamp she used to create it...makes me want it! Very pretty card!

April Lopez designed her Christmas card using Stampin' Up's My Digital Studio. I love seeing photos of families...esp with family pets. My pets wouldn't stay still long enough to get a nice photo. Bravo to April! I love how realistic the ribbon is on this card.

Peggy Patterson created this card with the cute Nativity Scene. I love how she attached the twine as it reminds me of the hay in the manger. I bet it took Peggy a long time to color in the nativity scene and it means so much that she took the time out to make it for me.

Martha McCollum made the card above. Here is another stamp set from our Mini Holiday Catalog that I did not get! This sooo makes me want it!

Cyndy Josephson made the card above. I love the simplicity of it. It's beautiful being monochromatic with a pop of color.

Megan Sadler created the card above. You cannot see the sparkles on it. So pretty!

Christmas Gift Exchange, Stampin' Up! Style

Jeanie Carter made these adorable angels out of DSP, a christmas ball, feathers, and a pipe cleaner.

Don't you just LOVE my little angel?

Peggy Patterson created this one of a kind ornament above. She is known as the "scrap" lady and uses scraps in all of her projects. She is a true artist!

Karen Kerr made the cute snowman candy bar wrapper above. I love how she added fleece for more dimension. Did you know you can too make a professional looking wrapper by using a crimper? Who would want to rip this open for the chocolate? It's too cute to eat!

The photo of the ornament above doesn't give it justice. Martha McCollum created it using the ornament punch and glued several of them together. She added beads to the bottom. A lot of punching, folding and gluing went into this gift.

Crystal Lafitte made this cute notepad cover so we could keep up with our Christmas shopping lists. I love shopping in style! Crystal added a lot of detail to this project such as embossing, coloring on stamps using markers, and adding ribbon with jingle bells.

We all ate dinner together for the gift exchange at Sonoma Grill. I made place cards for everyone that attended. I love making personalized things for people...it lets them know you were thinking of them. (I even made one for myself and I felt special knowing I was thinking of me....LOL! )

I used the Peek-a-boo frames die and Red glitter Cardstock from the Holiday Mini Catalog.

The main place card is the size of a cardfront, 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.

Chrissy Kelly created the glitter ornament below. She used reinkers and dazzling diamonds. She said "don't shake" but swirl the reinker and glitter inside the clear glass ball ornament.

Dola Morgan covered a plain paper mache ornament with DSP, glitz, and ribbon to create this masterpiece! She is very generous when using rhinestones, pearls and glitter. Detail work is her gift!

Josie Kendall made this Santa ornament. When I saw it I felt JOLLY...Hoo, Hoo, Hoo! I really did. She started with a glittered ornament from a discount store and embellished it with ribbon for a belt and made a glittered square for the buckle. She used hot glue to keep things in place.

Jessica Taylor made the ornament below by stamping using stazon ink and

coloring in using sharpie markers.

Teresa Sherman made this gift card holder for all of us and added a

giftcard to Einstein's Bagels inside! Yummy!

Stocking Ornaments

I made these ornament stockings for some special friends using the Stampin' Up! stocking die from the Holiday mini. I used Stampin' Up! fabric for most of the stocking but added some sparkly felt for texture and glitter. I stamped "winter wonderland" on our satin ribbon using black stazon ink, Stampin' Up!'s wide red striped ribbon for the hanger, and felt stitched pieces from the Holiday mini topped off with a button.

The stocking above is my favorite because I don't like to follow rules. Rules say things must match. I don't do matchy matchy very well. I broke all the rules and mixed our fabrics together.

The stocking below was designed and made by my 9 year old. I love that she doesn't follow the "rules" either. This one is really my favorite of them all!

Handsewing Flowers

I have been sewing these flowers together so I can add them to bags and more.

These items are Christmas gifts and also for sell in my etsy store.

I love using my Stampin' Up! Big Shot die cut system to make these flowers. I use so many different dies but my favorites are the following:

Scallop Circle, Scallop Circle #2, 3 inch circle, 3 1/2 inch circle,

flower fold extended die, circle #2, island floral die

I love working with felt, wool felt, and hand dyed wool. Recently I moved from hot gluing to hand stitching. I really love seeing the stitches.

The best flower of all is modeled by sweet baby Haddie. (April's baby)

The most popular item sold in my etsy store is this IPAD cover. Actually, not THIS exact one because I never make two alike but I've sold several of these. So....be creative! Add flowers to everything you can think of. Happy Holidays~!!

Front Door Christmas Card

I think this is my favorite card! Isn't it fun that it looks like a front door with a wreath hanging on it? We made this card during ArtCards this month.

Pearl Reindeer

Several years ago my Mom and I made this reindeer. We saw it in a magazine and fell in love. I can't believe after all these years it's held up.

We made it by wrapping beaded pearl stands around the dear. Then we hot glued them down into place. After the gluing was complete we glazed it to add more dimension.

Fun memories with Mom that I'll treasure!

Elf on the Shelf

Paisley, my sweet 9 year old, loves Alvin our Christmas Elf. However this year he was gifted a skirt so Alvin is now Alvina. You just never know where he might turn up next! Sometimes he even gets into mischief. Oops...she!

Christmas Decorating 2011

I love decorating for the Holidays! (once I get in the Holiday spirit)

Today I want to inspire you to get your decor out or share your photos with me.

Above: Stockings my Mom made for me several years ago. They are very special.

I found these gingerbread men about 10 years ago at Marshalls.

I still think they were a great find and love to pull them out!

It might be strange to you that we have a monkey on the top of our Christmas tree....but it's not strange to us....it's a tradition. However, I do remember when our son was young and he said, "Why do we have a monkey at the top of our tree?" I'm sure at school he colored angels or stars. I guess that would be something to question.

My favorite part after decorating is enjoying the lights. I have more decorations to share....another day. I also have some fun ornament ideas with the stocking die that I'll show next week. I can't spoil it for my stampin' friends. We have a party and will be exchanging ornaments or small gifts. I can't wait to share those with you too!

Barn Sale

If you live in the East Texas area come to the Barn Sale. You can come Thur-Sat from 8-5. You will find some vintage items, antiques, and some handcrafted things for sale.

These cookies are AMAZING! Beth Moore with Cookie Crumbs makes them and they are only $2.50 each. They just melt in your mouth.

My mom makes the cutest doll clothes that fit American Girls or any 18" doll. She is such a great seamstress and loves all the details that go into these clothes. You can see some of her creations on her blog.

The vintage hand stamped spoons shown above are from Berry Patch, handstamped by Heather Berry.

The cuffs above are my newest most favorite things in the world! I have been making these wristlets all weekend. If you aren't familar with cuffs they are worn just like a bracelet. I felted them with all types of fibers such as yarn and roving. They are for sale but I secretly want to keep them all as no two of them are alike.

Mike and Ann Brown are selling jams, pickels, and relish. I especially love the red pepper jelly.

I am also selling hand dyed wool flowers. Some of the flowers have feathers attached. Some flowers are hand sewn onto purses, IPAD cases, sunglass cases and purses. I used my Big Shot to make these. Email me for more info on a Big Shot.

Has anyone missed me? I haven't been able to post much in the last few weeks because I'm preparing for an online class through Big Picture Scrapbooking. Stay posted as it will launch soon....

Today I wanted to share with you my Christmas Gift Tag class. I designed these 4 gift tags and each student made 3 of each design. I loved playing with our silver glimmer paper but my favorite part was playing with our new peekaboo die!

The die cuts so you can lift up the flap....isn't that to "DIE" for?

The reindeer is from the stamp set Bingo Bits from the mini too!

I was surprised that this nontraditional tag seemed to be one of the favorites. The main tag is my very favorite cardstock we sell (as for right now) and I have neglected it for years. It's called Naturals Ivory. (p. 181) The velvet ribbon from the mini catalog is so soft! I used the Northern Flurry embossing folder after adhering the designer paper.

Here I used more traditional colors. The snowflake embossing folder I used is from the holiday mini. The stamp set with the "25" in it is one of my new favorites!! It's called Merry and Type. I also used the ornaments from that same set on the tag below.

To achieve the look on the above tag ink your stamp using markers, huff and stamp before embossing.

Before and After

I was reminded a few days ago from some friends that I had not updated my blog with before and after photos of my remodel. So here they are!

Above is the before photo. I alway hated the clutter. For a while the baskets worked but we couldn't ever keep them looking neat. So below is the after picture...hide the junk is my motto!

So what do you think?

Below is a whole where we used to keep our huge TV....you know the one that was as deep as a refrigerator. We decided to get a flat screen to put over the fireplace. (Yes, that TV is way too big!)

The after picture below is where we added new cabinets to fill in the whole. I love that I can store blankets in there and my son can hide his Xbox and games.

Hayes, my son, has actually taken over this room as you can see in the photo below.

I had this print from IKEA that I purchased several years ago. I moved it from another room and really wanted a replica to match. Of course IKEA didn't sell it anymore so I desperately posted on facebook, searched Craigs list, etc... I couldn't believe that my cousin found this exact print from Craigs list in her area. Technology has changed the world!

Thursday Night Lights

Last night Hayes had the best night in his football history so far!

He's in 8th grade now and loves the sport.

Now I'm not bragging but I did hear his name called out more than 6 times.....just sayin'.

(LOL....from a proud mama)

Here was the final score!

His Dad is really proud of him too. Can't you tell by his smile. (His Dad smiles on the inside...that's the family joke. He even has a shirt that says that. He's proud to wear it too!

This photo is Hayes smiling because he knew he had a great game.

The guys beside his are his really good friends!

So, if you are not from East Texas you may not know how "important" football is around here. If you've ever seen the movie or TV show Friday Night Lights it's just like that!

Speaking about Friendship

Are you familar with MOPS? Mothers of Preschoolers that is. If you have a young one I would definitely look into it. I've been a part of MOPS in one way or another for 12 years. It has changed my life. I've been in leadership and a speaker. I was blessed today to be able to speak to a local MOPS group in Tyler about friendship. It was titled "Are you a Drano Friend?"

Yesterday my baby turned 9 officially. (You may have seen party photos last week.) On my kids official birthday I make them cinnamon rolls or muffins for breakfast and we add a candle. Her brother and I sang Happy Birthday to her while she blew out the candle.

Her Dad and I visited her at lunch and brought cupcakes for her class.

Below is a photo of her in her lunchroom. Can you her school colors are blue?

Diva Campout Sleepover

I designed this postcard using Stampin' Up!'s My Digital Studio program. This invitation is one piece of cardstock and the designs are front and back. I had it printed through Stampin' Up! at $1.95 each. I love this program and the quality of the printing services.

This weekend we celebrated Paisley's 9th birthday with a "Diva Campout Sleepover".

The party favors were lanterns. Each girls name was handstamped on a tag.

Below is bug juice a.k.a. 7-up and green fruit punch.

We had to have cute juice bottles...you know...it was a diva campout!

I printed out the names and punched them out using my large oval punch.

Okay....this cake is AMAZING! My good friend and college roommate made this for Paisley.

She said she would never make one again. She worked on it into all hours of the night.

The girls played a photo scavenger hunt. Each team was challenged to find objects and take photos of them using cell phones and a DSIXL.

I was surprised when the girls wanted to go swimming. It is finally getting a little cooler here in Texas. Paisley's dream party included swimming!

No, the girls didn't sleep in the tent but they acted like they were going to. It didn't take long until one was scared and they all came inside. It was exactly as I expected! But a good time was had by all.

She typed up her recipe to make this card step by step. Amazing, it's she?

Crystal said, "As a paralegal, I tried not to leave anything out. 

I used 31 Stampin' Up! products."

1. Use Paper Cutter (#104152) to cut 5.5 inch by 8.5 inch card base from Crumb Cake cardstock (#120953).
2. Use Texture Jumbo wheel (#116685) and roll the Crumb Cake cardstock.
3. Use Simple Scored Scoring Tool (#122334) to score the card at 4.25 inches and use bone folder (#102300) to fold card in half at the score mark.
4. Use the 3/16 inch corner punch (#119871) to round the bottom corners of the card.
5. Using the 1 inch circle punch (#119868) punch one of each of the following colors from cardstock: Lucky limeade (#122926); Pool Party (#122924); More Mustard (#100946); Soft Suede (#115318)
6. Using 3/4 inch circle punch (#119873), punch five circles from various patterns of the Spice Cake Designer Series Paper (#124003). Use Snail Adhesive (#104332) to adhere the DSP circles to the 1 inch circles.
7. Line up the five 1-inch circles along the bottom of the card and adhere with Stampin’ Dimensionals (#104430) to give the circles a raised effect.
8. Cut a 5 3/8 by 2 3/8 piece from Pool Party cardstock, and use the Simply Scored Scoring Tool and place a score every 1/8-inch up and down and left to right to create a plaid effect. Adhere the Pool Party to the upper portion of the card.
9. Use the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch (#119275) to punch a piece of Soft Suede cardstock measuring 5.5 inches, and place it along the bottom portion of the Pool Party.
10. Cut a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock (#101650) 5.25 inches by 2 3/8ths inches. Use the Texture Jumbo wheel on cardstock and apply Soft Suede Classic Stampin’ Ink, and then use the Cutter Kit (#106958) to rough the edges. Then run the edges of the piece along the Soft Suede Classic Stampin’ pad (#115657). Adhere the Vanilla piece on top of the Pool Party.
11. Stamp the saying from the Day of Gratitude stamp set (#121148) on More Mustard, and then use the Decorative Label Punch (#120907) to punch it out. Use a Stamping Sponges to apply Soft Suede ink to the Decorative Label for a shadowed effect. Then adhere the label to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
12. Use the Big Shot (#113439) with the Leaves #2 die (#113459) to create the leaves using Lucky Limeade and More Mustard cardstock. Then run one leaf through the Big Shot using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder (#117335) and the other through using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder (#119976) to add texture. Place one Stampin Dimensional behind each of the leaves and adhere to the card one top of the other to create a layered look.
13. Use the 1/16th Handheld Punch (#101227) to place a hole in the card at the base of where the leaves come together.
14. Use Hemp Twine (#100982) to make a bow and use Glue Dots (#103683) to adhere the bow at the base of the leaves.
15. Roll a scrap piece of Very Vanilla with the Texture Jumbo Wheel, and the stamp the acorn from the Day of Gratitude stamp set using Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker (#119680) for the top and Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Marker (#120973) for the bottom. Use the 1-inch circle punch to punch out the acorn and then run the edge of the circle on the Soft Suede ink pad to create a border.
16. Use 1/16-inch Handheld Punch to create a hole at the top of the acorn and insert about a 2-inch piece of Hemp Twine and adhere the twine to the area of the bow. Then insert a Antique Brad (#117273) at the base of the leaves.

This is the one they chose. I added a vanilla backing and distressed it using our cutter kit. Then I stamped the envelopes to coordinate. This photo shows it to be darker than it really is.

Decor Elements

I ordered a Stampin up Digital Album in Brown leather and wanted to decorate the outside so I ordered our Decor Elements family and they fit on it perfectly.

Here's how I applied them:
1. I cut around the item.
2. I lined them in place to be sure they fit.
3. I peeled off the back of the center one and carefully laid it on top of the album in case I needed to move it.
4. Once it was in place I pressed it down with the stampin up applicator ($1.95)
5. Last, I pulled off the backing making sure the image was lying flat. It's best to pull the back off at an angle if possible.

This project took minutes and made a huge difference! Wouldn't these be cute on the back of your car window, on the glass of a picture frame, on a mirror, on a metal tin, etc.... Where would you apply these decor elements? There are other family options too...cat, dog, baby, etc....

These chocolate nuggets were part of the party goodies! Have you seen this stamp set?

It is perfect to wrap around these little chocolates...AND we have a new set of holiday stamps for this same purpose coming out in our NEW Holiday Mini Catalog starting Sept. 1st.

This is one of the cards we created at Crystal's party. I used the 1 3/8 inch circle punch (119860 $15.95) for the top three and 1 3/4 circle punch (119850 $16.95) for the bottom of the cross. We used the framed tulips embossing folder (#121809 $7.95) around the front of the card, the new Beau Chateau designer paper (122357 $10.95 12 double sided sheets, 12x12) and an adhesive pearl (119247 $4.95, includes 150) for the center.

All the cupcakes had a butterfly cupcake topper (114507 beautiful butterflies die $21.95)

This is another card we made. I love these colors! They are my favorites...daffodil delight, poppy parade and early espresso....yummy! Do you have Baby Fever?

No more babies for me but I do have a friend giving birth as I post this. Push April, Push!!

I made these for baby Haddie Jane. She will be arriving any minute!

I started with a onesie, fabric, headband and socks.

I cut out the banner using the smallest pennant (perfect pennant die) and glued it down using my stampin up glue stick. Next I stitched it down with a straight stitch. Then I took a piece of crochet trim and sewed it on scrunching it up as I went along.

When I made the flowers for the headband I used the Island Floral Die with several layers of fabric. I put them together with an antique brad after punching a hole with my crop-a-dile. Last, I sprayed a mixture of half starch and half water all over the flowers and scrunched the up....added an alligator clip to the back so you can attach it to the headband.

The socks are similar to how I made the flower above except I used Blossom Party die. I wanted to add a button or something to the middle but not a good idea for an infant. I just tacked the flowers down with a needle and thread.

Fabric Big Shot Book

This is the cutest book I have ever seen for a little girl.

It was designed by April Roycroft, www.heartlandfamily.blogspot.com .

I love all the textures she used.

It's a book she made for her 2 year old, Lyla.

She used old pockets for Lyla to practice placing the owl in.

April used a lot of Big Shot shapes to make her characters.

She freehanded the letters but you could use our large die cut letters for a similar effect.

The "O" on the Owl pages below is our Scalloped Oval Die and the Owl's head is the top note die.

The bird below is our scallop circle die.

I just wish you could see this book in person. It's so sweet! She used every kind of fabric she had from felt to minky to satin to denim. They are all perfect textiles for little ones.

Way to go April...and thanks for sharing with us.

Chocolate Nugget tutorial

I made this jar of chocolates for my friends baby shower. Each nugget is covered with a computer label stamped with our new stamp set, It's a Wrap Occasions! Super easy and cute, don't you think as a gift for someone special? A teacher for the first day of school, a new neighbor, a co-workers bday... there are so many uses for these. I'm going to show you how EASY these are. Anyone can make them. They don't even have to be "stampers" to get the supplies and do this one project. All you need is one ink, the stamp set, and labels.

Step 1: Choose your occasion stamp and stamp on labels using your choice of ink. The stamps are for these occasions: Thank You, A+ for teachers are smart students, birthday, baby, get well, shower, and wedding.

Step 2: Center your label on your nugget.

Step 3: Wrap your nugget around on both sides. I do have a tip here. Wrap the nugget on the side first that holds the foil in place. You'll see what I mean when you try this yourself.

You can take it a step further and make this adorable matchbox using our big shot die. What a cute little gift and 4 nuggets fit inside perfectly!

Baby Shower

Tonight was one of my besties baby shower for her 4th baby.

We ate dinner, played a game, and ate cupcakes.

The game we played is called "Who Am I? ". I created strips (seen above) using MDS for our forehead. Each strip had a baby item written on them and we had to ask questions to see what we had.

Above are the cupcake toppers I made for her cupcakes using the pennant die and punch.

This is a jar I made using our new stamp set for nuggets with labels. I'll go into more details on my next post. It was a great night celebrating Haddie Jane's arrival!

Convention Samples

Isn't this card lovely? I love the layers of sponged vellum. So delicate and frilly.

The cards above and below are made with our new button buddy stamp set. OMG! Have you seen it yet? I saw so many samples at convention with it and can't wait to use it. Each stamp is cute alone but when added a button to just the right spot....it makes it ultra-adorable!

Speaking of buttons....check out how to layer our buttons.....so creative! I want to dump all my buttons out and play with them right now. What else you/me do with our buttons?

I always loved this single homemade and to die for stamp but wasn't real sure how to use it. At convention I got several ideas such as the one below.

Sharon Armstrong is a hoot! Couldn't remember if I posted this or not but here is her convention hat. I can't wait to share the crazy hats we saw at convention! They were so creative. Our them was gardening and there was a hat contest.

Check out these hats! They not only got into the hats....they got into their entire wardrobe. Now, were else would you see this kind of enthusiasm besides at the Stampin' Up! Convention!

I mentioned buttons earlier and wanted to share more buttons with you. On my name tag here are the buttons I earned from the Stampin Up! year. I'm very proud and have worked hard for these and I know some of you like to hear the great news. The upper left button is for recruiting. I am awarded when my first level downline promote to sr. associate. On the upper right is for selling $30,000 in merchandise this year, the bottom left in for being in the top 100 of the company, and the bottom right is for earning the Disney cruise. None of this would be possible without my awesome downline and amazing customers/friends! I'm an honored at the love and support you offer me and love you bunches....the best part is calling you my friend. Stampin' Up is more about relationship than anything and that's why I LOVE this company.

Mom & Daughter CRAFT Retreat

I hope you've missed me lately! I've sure missed blogging.

So I wanted to share with you what I've been up to.

Paisley and I attended a Mother/Daughter Retreat last week. In the photo above: Paisley really wanted us to have matching pajamas so we came really close to matching. It's hard to tell here but we did a pretty good job at Wal-mart.

At this retreat Paisley learned to sew and cook. It was a fabulous experience. Unfortunately, Mrs. Judy at Greenbriar Retreat Center isn't able to teach many classes.

I do recommend attending the center if you can. Mrs. Judy is so accommodating and I'm blessed everytime I go there. Greenbriar is located in Eustace, Texas near Canton (trades days).

If you are interested in attending my retreat it's February 17-19. The cost is $215. (Her Pricing has gone up from the past but it's so worth your money.) Her food is amazing and she has spoiled us with comfortable chair and 2 four foot tables shaped in an L shape so you really have a lot of space to yourself. Each person gets their own cup holder and fan in case you like the noise or having your own personal summer. :)

I call it a CRAFT retreat because every one does their own thing!

You can make cards, scrapbook, sew, create to your hearts content, etc..

Happy Birthday to my New TEEN!

My first born turned 13 last week. I can't believe he is a TEENager.

I've heard the fun begins now....lol!

We took some friends to Main Event and then to the Egyptian Restaurant (Campisi's) for Dinner. It's the best pizza we've ever had. We like to go to the Downtown location in Dallas, TX. Rumor is the mafia used to run this join.

During lunch Hayes got to be a Birthday Fairy and sparkle fairy dust on each table in the restaurant. Great fun to watch a teen do that. He was a great sport!

Score pad Tutorial

The make and take from my Stampo class was a score pad.

I thought that would be appropriate for the occasion.

1. Purchase memo pads. I got 3 for $1.99 from Target.

2. I designed and printed the artwork on our My Digital Studio program. I LOVE this program. It's so versatile!
3. I adhered the DSP to the notebook using my Stampin' Up! glue stick. Great quality!
4. I matted the artward to melon mambo cs.
5. I used pumpkin pie cardstock and punched it out using the scallop border punch.
6. Then I attached this piece with SU! dimensionals.
7. Used our new decorative punch across the top.
8. I added lots of fun coordinating ribbons to finish it off.

Wouldn't this be a cute addition to a board game, dominoes, or cards as a gift!

I also printed a stampo sheet for their notebook that they used to keep score just for fun. Then they tore them off for me to announce the winners.

Convention 2011

The most exciting part of convention was earning Founders Circle. You earn this award when you are in the top 100 in the company. Isn't this a cute bag they gave us? It may be hard to see in this photo but it's metallic with a pretty black bow. Earning Founders means you get a special trip with just the top 100 demonstrators.

This year the convention theme was grow. There was a hat contest so we saw some of the cutest, most creative hats you've ever seen!

This card was shared with me during dinner one night. It's using our new embossing folder in our NEW IDBC (Idea Book & Catalog).

This is a closer look at the card. Love adding our adhesive pearls as embellishments.

Natalie attended convention with her mom, Joni. They had a great time together. I must say Natalie was very enthusiastic about her first convention and had many beautiful creations to share. This purse/lpad cover was one of the items she designed.

Convention Bag Tag Tutorial

I leave for the Stampin' UP! convention tomorrow and won't return until Sunday. It's such a fun time to connect with my SU! friends from around the globe!

I wanted to share with you these bag tags I'm bringing for my downline, roommates, upline, and a few sidelines. These bag tags could be turned into a necklace or Christmas ornament. I made them using our beveled windowpanes. They come in 3 sizes as you can see in these photos.

Step 1: Choose a windowpane and cut 2 pieces of DSP (designer series paper) the same size as your windowpane. Decorate your DSP by using stamps, die cuts, etc....

Step 2: Adhere the top and bottom of your DSP to the back of the window pane so it stays in place.

Step 3: Use a hobby blade to cut slits through the windowpane. (They come with slits in them, you are cutting the paper)

Step 4: Slide seam binding up through windowpane until it folds back on itself and adhere. Below is the front view.

I cased these from my friend Patty Bennett. She made hers into necklaces.

Step 5: Make a small loop using the seam binding and adhere that to the back of the DSP.

Step 6: Adhere a back to the photo below. I don't show a photo of back, sorry! I used crystal effects to adhere it and let it dry before the next step.

Step 7: Run your ribbon through the loop and add charm.

Glossy Resist Tutorial

I had so much fun playing with my glossy paper last week! Even my son got into it! (And stamping is not his thing) But you can't resist the kid inside you to do this technique....and it's good therapy!

How do you like our new Doily stamp set? Doilies are the thing this year. Have you seen our Doily punch yet? Super cute!

You may have noticed something unique about this card. I punched out several scallops and glued them together to make a thick scallop.

On the card below I used pastels with sponge daubers for the flower. It's fun to bring out tools you haven't used in a long time. My favorite part is after doing the resist I ran the glossy paper through the big shot using the lattice embossing folder. It's becoming one of my favorite folders! I love this stamp set from the mini catalog! BTW, I used espresso striped grosgrain ribbon that is retired but change out the espresso to black and it will look just as great! The swirls and curls stamp set used as the greeting is a new hostess stamp set from the current mini.

Below is what it looked like before I ran it through the big shot.

Here is my last card sample using this technique. Are you ready to learn how I did it?

Step 1: Ink Stampin up glossy cardstock using versamark ink. Be sure to cover the entire piece, overlap if needed.

Step 2: Fold a piece of wax paper in half. Open it back up and add reinkers to the center line. Here I used 3 colors...

Step 3: Fold the was paper in half and press and slide the ink out and blend a little.

Step 4: After opening up the wax paper let it bubble to were it almost looks like there is no ink on it. That is when you lay your glossy paper face down and press.

Step 5: With a napkin rub the glossy inked piece until the versamark'd images come alive. Rub really good to get all the extra ink off.

Altered Briefcase

If you are a blog follower of mine you may be aware that my Dad is retiring soon. I designed an MDS invitation for his party that I posted recently. All that to say he was cleaning out his office and came across this old briefcase. I just couldn't let him throw it away and was hanging onto it for who knows what.

Last night I showed it to Paisley (yes, major haircut but 10 inches went to Locks of Love) and we decided to alter it. Now it's her traveling office.

She started by adding our chalkboard vinyl to the front of the briefcase.

Next she added decor elements to the inside along with wrapping paper for the bottom.

Next we went through my ribbon scraps and went crazy tying them to the handle!

It turned out to be a great salvage and it was so fun to do together. Below Paisley is in Pop's old office. She thinks she will be taking it over.....LOL....she'll have to fight me and my son for it! I think we'll share it until we get a new appraiser.

Fun Times! The best part is that it was a spontaneous thing....we didn't plan it out. We just went for it!

Hope you are inspired to alter something....don't think of it as junk....just renew it!

My Downline Dola

Dola Morgan is one of my downline demonstrators. She is very talented!

She made these cards using new product coming our July 1st in our NEW idea book & catalog!

I love the way she colored in these rain/tear drops using ink then her crystal effects.

The most amazing thing I learned from her at our demo meeting was you can color our pearls with our markers! Aren't these so pretty!? I also love the new punch coming soon...

This was her swap for the night. Wouldn't you have loved getting one of these? Wow! This stamp set is currently available in our Summer mini catalog. Gorgeous! She embossed the flowers using white embossing powder. To achieve this look you can use pastels or ink with a sponge or daubers.

These are lovely cards and cool techniques. Thanks Dola for sharing your talents with us! You are very inspiring. I'm so excited you are getting to attend convention this year too!

mini album & necklace

This is a mini album that my friend is giving her niece. She is a counselor at a camp in our area called Sky Ranch. She can add photos, journaling, or signatures to it. We embellished it with random ribbon scraps. The letters, flowers, and swirl are dies we used with my Big Shot die cut machine. I believe the swirly is retiring June 30th.
